Sunshine Stars bolster squad with 16 signings, 3 promotions
Sunshine Stars FC of Akure has bolstered its squad for the second phase of the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League NPFL season by signing 16 new players and promoting three from their youth academy. The Owena Whales aim to improve their performance after a challenging first half of the season.
The new signings include experienced players from both domestic and international clubs, such as Waheed Adebayo Lobi Stars, Daniel Edeh El Gouna, Egypt, Liman Ahmadu Lobi Stars, Okeke Vincent Bendel Insurance, Edafe Vincent Remo Stars, Ebuka Anaekwe Kwara United, and Uche Onwuasonaya Shooting Stars. Other notable additions are Chukwudi Esobe Heartland, Sadiq AbduRazak Niger Tornadoes, and Henry Elum Shooting Stars.
From the youth team, Ariyo Ikulamberu, Christopher Richards, and Samuel Matthew have been promoted to the senior squad. Club President Bamidele Ologunloluwa expressed optimism about the new additions, highlighting their potential to address the team's challenges and elevate its position in the league standings.
"We are excited to welcome these players, many of whom have established reputations in football. We urge all stakeholders to support and pray for the team as we strive for improvement," Ologunloluwa said.
Technical Adviser Abubakar Bala shared similar sentiments, emphasising that the mix of fresh and existing talent would enhance competition within the team and lead to better results.
"Our goal is to build a cohesive and competitive squad," Bala noted, underscoring the importance of teamwork and strategic planning in achieving success.
