Uganda Coach Respects Nigeria's Soccer Supremacy Before African Games

As the 13th African Games in Accra beckon, Uganda's Hippos coach, Morley Byekwaso Ochama, has expressed a deep respect for Nigeria, acknowledging them as a power house in African football. Despite this, he remains confident in his team's ability to face the Flying Eagles, one of the men's football event favourites, in their opener. The much anticipated match is set to take place at the Accra Stadium on Thursday, with a kickoff time set for 2100 hours Nigerian time.

Nigeria, under the guidance of seasoned coach Ladan Bosso, is on a quest to clinch the gold medal at the African Games for the first time in fifty one years, having last won the competition in 1973. Since then, Nigeria has secured silver medals in 1978, 2003, and 2019, and finished as the third best team in 1991, 1995, and 2015.

Bosso's squad includes stars from the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup, such as Daniel Bameyi and Daniel Daga, alongside the promising striker Charles Agada, ready to make their mark against Uganda. Byekwaso, in statements relayed by Kawowo Sports, highlighted the team's thorough preparations, including practice games in Ethiopia, and expressed belief in their readiness for the tournament.

We respect Nigeria as a super power of African football but we don’t fear them, Byekwaso stated, reflecting on their previous encounter at the AFCON U20 last year and his belief in the team's significant improvement since then. The
